Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. I praise Him as He deserves to be praised; I cannot enumerate the praises due to Him; He is as He has praised Himself. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah's blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, his family, his companions, and those who follow his Sunnah with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

Send blessings upon the Messenger of Allah. Does life become sweet except with peace and blessings upon the Prophet of Allah, Muhammad ibn Abdullah, His beloved and chosen one, the best of Allah's creation?

O Allah, send peace, blessings, and grace upon our Prophet and beloved Muhammad, and upon his family, companions, and followers, at all times and in every moment.

May Allah's peace, blessings, and grace be upon him as long as the sun shines and the crescent moon appears.

May Allah's peace, blessings, and grace be upon him as long as trees put forth leaves and shadows extend.

May Allah's peace, blessings, and grace be upon him as long as fruits ripen and wealth is spent.

May Allah's peace, blessings, and grace be upon him by the number of raindrops and grains of sand.

May Allah's peace, blessings, and grace be upon him, for he is worthy of all virtue and all perfection.

Our Need to Send Blessings upon the Prophet

May Allah's blessings be upon Muhammad, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him.

How much we need to moisten our hearts and nourish our souls from time to time with the remembrance of Allah and by sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Our souls truly need this, just as crops need water and bodies need food. So let us live this blessed and good time in the realm of sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Let us learn something of its meaning, its impact, its virtue, and our need for it, and how we can be affected by it and how it can have the desired positive impact on our lives.

Sending blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is like a large, fruitful orchard, a vast, flourishing garden. Let us, in these few minutes, enter this beautiful orchard and not leave it except with a great bounty of ripe fruits that will benefit us in this world, and accepted good deeds that will benefit us in the Hereafter, by Allah's permission.

We all know the virtue of sending peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and that it is a reason for the forgiveness of sins, the relief of worries, the fulfillment of needs, the elevation of ranks, the erasure of misdeeds, the acceptance of supplications, and the continuous flow of goodness and blessings, and blessings from the Lord of the heavens and the earth. So why does it have all this great virtue? And how can we best reap its fruits in this world and the Hereafter? The first and most important step is to know its meaning and reality, to repeat it with our hearts, and to live with it in our souls so that we may taste its sweetness and deepen its impact on ourselves and our lives.

The Meaning of Sending Blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)

Scholars say that blessings from Allah upon the Prophet are mercy, honor, and praise for him. From the angels, it is seeking forgiveness for him. And from the believers, it is supplication. That is, when we send blessings upon the Prophet, we are asking Allah to increase His exaltation and honoring of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

The meaning of sending peace and blessings upon the Prophet is: "Blessings from Allah Almighty are mercy coupled with exaltation, and from the angels and humans, it is asking for that and requesting it for him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)." From the book "Al-Jawhar Al-Munaththam" by Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami.

Imam Al-Hafiz Abu Al-Aliyah said: "Allah's blessing upon His Prophet is His praise of him before His angels, and the angels' blessing upon him is supplication."

Al-Izz ibn Abd al-Salam said: "Our sending blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is not an intercession from us for him, for the likes of us do not intercede for the likes of him. However, Allah commanded us to recompense whoever has done good to us and bestowed favors upon us. If we are unable to do so, we recompense them with supplication. So, Allah guided us, knowing our inability to recompense our Prophet, to send blessings upon him, so that our blessings upon him would be a recompense for his goodness to us and his favors upon us, as there is no goodness better than his goodness (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The benefit of sending blessings upon him returns to the one who sends blessings upon him, as an indication of the maturity of their creed, the sincerity of their intention, the manifestation of love, and perseverance in obedience and respect."

He reached the heights through his perfection; he illuminated the darkness with his beauty.

All his sayings were true; all his actions were complete.

All his attributes were excellent; his generosity surpassed all giving.

All his characteristics were perfect, send blessings upon him and his family.

May Allah's blessings be upon Muhammad, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him.

The Reality of Sending Blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)

Sending blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is not mere ritualistic chanting (dervishism), nor is it a period in which we are absent from life. Rather, it is an evocation of all the meanings of life. Indeed, we can say that it is a "way of life." Why? Because in its reality, it renews our lives, increases our love for our Messenger, deepens our knowledge of our leader, strengthens our bond with our role model, endears to us our obedience to our Prophet, and paves the way for us to follow our Imam (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

While it is recommended for a Muslim to frequently send peace and blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), it is even more recommended to bring to mind the meanings connected to it and to the person of the Chosen One (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), his attributes, and his states. A Muslim's sending blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) should not be mere words repeated by the tongue only. Rather, it is better and more beneficial for the peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah to be with a present heart, contemplating its meanings, and remembering the life, morals, and biography of the beloved Muhammad.

What helps a Muslim to feel the meanings of sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah is to accompany it with remembering his love, reverence, respect, obedience, and emulation, and remembering his virtue and goodness, and that he is the Giver of Mercy, the Bestowed Favor, the Luminous Lamp, and that he is Allah's mercy to the worlds, the holder of the Banner of Praise, the Praiseworthy Station, and the Visited Pool. He is the Imam of the Prophets and the Seal of the Messengers, the beloved of the Lord of the worlds. He is the truthful, the trustworthy, and he is kind and merciful to the believers. The greatest of people in courage, the most merciful, the most generous, the purest in body, the purest in soul, and the soundest in heart.

"When I send blessings upon Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), I feel that I am offering beautiful praise to one who deserves it, and I highlight the sincere servitude of one who lived his life pleasing his Lord and striving in His cause! I ask my Lord to accept the owner of this blessed life and to immortalize his آثار (legacy/ آثار), and to help me follow in his footsteps and emulate his Sunnah.

And when I send peace upon Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his brother Messengers, I stand upon the ruins of a long past, an ancient history during which the Messengers of Allah struggled against tyrants and contended with ignorance. Their sweat and blood flowed, their foreheads furrowed, and their lives were troubled, but they were patient and endured. And after a struggle, the millstone turned against the disbelievers and reaped them, while the beliefs, laws, and landmarks of higher revelation were saved, and were preserved for future generations to benefit from them, and to reap what the predecessors had sown! And after this bitter struggle, it was said: 'Praise be to Allah, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen.' And it was also said: 'Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. And peace upon the messengers. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'

Indeed, when I send blessings and peace upon Muhammad, I connect myself with the noblest of what exists, I set my steps firmly on the straight path, I accept a leadership that embraces truth and prefers guidance, and I declare that my inclination is with what he brought. Sending blessings and peace here is an affirmation of a methodology, a bearing of a burden, and a heartfelt and intellectual participation with a man who liberated faith from superstition, purified truth from impurities, linked sound human nature with revelation, reconciled reason and religion, and made the world a suitable preparation for the Hereafter." From the book "The Path is From Here" by Sheikh Mohammed al-Ghazali (may Allah have mercy on him).

When we send blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), we thereby declare the path we choose to follow, the Imam we choose to take as our leader, and the role model we choose to emulate.

May Allah's blessings be upon Muhammad, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him.

Why Do We Send Blessings and Peace Upon Him? (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)

1. Firstly: Because Allah confers blessing upon him, and because the angels send blessings upon him, and because Allah commanded us to send blessings and peace upon him. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

2. And we send blessings upon him because he is the beloved of Allah, because Allah chose him, purified him and sanctified him, and chose him from among the men of the worlds to make him the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the Messengers. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

3. And because he is the master of the children of Adam in this world, and because he is the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Resurrection, the day when every person will be preoccupied and concerned with themselves, while he will be concerned with us and our salvation from the Fire and our entry into Paradise with the righteous. The day you find every person saying, "Myself, myself," while he stands at the Throne of the Most Merciful saying, "My Ummah, my Ummah." He saved his answered supplication to be for our salvation on the Day of Resurrection. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

4. Because humanity before him was wandering in the darkness of polytheism, ignorance, corruption, and injustice. His advent was a turning point in the history of humankind on earth. Allah brought humanity out of darkness into light through him – to the light of knowing Allah, His oneness, His love, and His worship; to the light of knowledge, faith, justice, and benevolence. He was a mercy to all the worlds. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

5. Because after centuries of oppression and darkness, and the spread of despair, confusion, and misguidance, he restored humanity to humans, renewed their honor and dignity with Islam, and guided them to the path of their success and happiness. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

6. Because without him, we would have been a driven herd. So, Allah sent him to us to teach us how to live with dignity, and he taught us how to rise and elevate ourselves with morals, and Allah perfected noble morals through him. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

7. And because he was our role model, our teacher, and our guide to embodying every virtuous characteristic in our homes and our work, in our mosques and our marketplaces, in our private and public lives. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

8. Because he taught us how to embody virtuous morals in all details of our lives: with ourselves, with our families, wives, children, neighbors, and friends; with our loved ones and even with our opponents and enemies; with the young and the old, with the rich and the poor. His character was the Quran, and Allah reformed human morals through him. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

9. And because every person has a role model and an example in life, whether they know it or not. While the lost take role models for themselves that lead them away from the path of guidance, the Muslim takes his guiding Prophet as a role model and example who guides him to the path of guidance and righteousness. By sending blessings upon him, he renews the covenant of emulating him, following him, and obeying him. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

10.And because he was of noble character by nature and origin, even before his prophethood. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to maintain ties of kinship, speak truthfully, fulfill trusts, honor guests, carry the burdens of others, earn for the destitute, and help in times of rightful calamities. Then he taught us how to live by these noble morals. Therefore, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

11.And because he loves us, yearns for us, and describes us as his brothers, saying, "I long for my brothers... those who believed in me but did not see me." I would be shy before him when I meet him. He loves us, and he is who he is? – He is the beloved of the Truth and the best of creation. He loves us, is keen for our well-being, is compassionate towards us, and fears for us. He is kind and merciful to us. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him. May Allah's peace and blessings be upon Muhammad.

12.And because he spent his life inviting us and guiding us, and he sacrificed his soul for our sake. His pure blood flowed, and his noble incisor tooth was broken while he was delivering our religion to us. He endured harm, denial, siege, and displacement, all to deliver the message of Islam to us on a golden platter. And how have we repaid his kindness? For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

13.And because sending peace and blessings upon him combines our duties towards him, such as believing in him, affirming his message, loving him, following him, obeying him, emulating him, walking in his Sunnah, adopting his morals, drawing inspiration from his biography, defending him, and supporting him. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

14.Because Allah rectified our conditions through him. We were disunited, and Allah united us through him. We were astray, and Allah guided us through him. We were poor, and Allah enriched us through him. We were ignorant, and Allah taught us through him. For this, we send blessings and peace upon him (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

When we send blessings and peace upon him, we must remember all these meanings and much more.

Therefore, with our sending of blessings and peace upon him, all his virtues, noble deeds, morals, actions, biography, Sunnah, sayings, and Hadiths come to our minds, along with our need to draw from them and walk in their light. Thus, we understand a part of the true meaning of sending peace and blessings upon him, and why sending peace and blessings upon him holds such a great status and has this immense virtue and noble reward.

This is because, in its true reality and meaning, it guides our steps, corrects our mistakes, directs our path, rectifies our thoughts, and returns us to the right course. It tells us that the path is from here, beginning and ending behind this noble Prophet and great human being, upon him be the best of blessings and the most perfect peace (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

The Virtue of Sending Peace and Blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)

It is sufficient virtue for sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that Allah, in His might and majesty, sends blessings upon whoever sends blessings upon the Prophet. Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold in return." (Narrated by Muslim).

And whoever frequently sends blessings upon him will be among the closest people to him on the Day of Resurrection. Abdullah ibn Masoud narrated that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: " The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who sent the most blessings upon me." (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).

It is also sufficient virtue for sending peace and blessings upon the chosen Prophet that it is a reason for the acceptance of supplication. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: " Every supplication (Dua) is veiled, Until one sends Salawat/prayers and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)." (Sahih Al-Jami': 4523).

And Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Indeed, supplication is suspended between heaven and earth; none of it ascends until you send blessings upon your Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)." (Sahih At-Targhib wat-Tarhib: 1676).

Indeed, it is enough that one of the virtues of sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is that it suffices you for all the worries of this world and the Hereafter. Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: " I said: "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I frequently invoke Allah to elevate your rank. How much of my supplications should I devote to you?" He said, "You may devote as much as you wish." When I suggested a quarter, he said, "Do whatever you wish, but it will be better for you if you increase it." I suggested half, and he said, "Do whatever you wish, but it will be better for you if you increase." I suggested two- thirds, and he said, "Do whatever you wish but it will be better for you if you increase it." I said, "Shall I devote all my supplications invoking Allah to elevate your rank?" He said, "Then you will be freed from your worries and your sins will be forgiven.'" (Sahih Al-Jami': 7863).

There is a special virtue for sending blessings upon the Prophet on Friday and the night of Friday. Aws ibn Aws said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Among the best of your days is Friday. On that day pray to Allah to exalt my mention frequently, for your such supplications are presented to me." (Narrated by Abu Dawud with a sound chain of narration). Allah has placed in every moment of Friday goodness, blessings, rewards, and good deeds that only He knows. Therefore, scholars considered Friday a day of Eid (celebration) and worship.

Several formulas for sending blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) have been reported in many Hadiths, including: Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came out to us, and we said: )O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), we know about sending salams upon you, but how should we send salah upon you?" He said: 'Say: Alahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala ali Muhammad, kama sallaita 'ala Ibrahima wa barik 'ala Muhammad kama barakta 'ala ali Ibrahim fil-'alamin, innaka hamidun majid (O Allah, send salah upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent salah upon the family of Ibrahim, and send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim among the nations. You are indeed Worthy of praise, Full of glory)" [Al-Bukhari: 6357] [Muslim: 406]
